Puebla legislator submits activity report via AI-generated sci-fi video.
Roberto Zataráin Leal, a local deputy for Morena in the Congress of Puebla, submitted his activity report using an artificial intelligence video. The production depicts him traveling to a 'Honorable Galactic Parliament' where he is greeted by extraterrestrial creatures. During this fictional intervention, Zataráin claimed 100% attendance at sessions, the approval of five legislative initiatives, and seven community projects. He also announced a tour on digital well-being. The presentation, featuring science fiction scenes with anthropomorphic characters, drew criticism on social media for its unusual format for an official accountability exercise. The legislator defended the strategy as an innovative tool to capture public attention, though the exact production cost has not been specified.

New study suggests semaglutida protects against heart failure.
A new laboratory study led by Cedars-Sinai Health Sciences University found that semaglutida, the active ingredient in weight-loss pens, exerts a protective effect against heart failure. Researchers observed these direct cardiovascular benefits even with very low doses of the drug and independently of weight loss in animals. Published in the European Heart Journal, the study demonstrated that treatment reduced heart stiffness, decreased cardiac enlargement, and eliminated harmful fat around the organ and liver. David Lefer, director of translational research at Cedars-Sinai, stated that the results provide strong justification for investigating GLP-1 medications as potential treatments for heart failure. Traci Goodchild, a surgery professor, suggested these findings could pave the way for prescribing low-dose GLP-1 to achieve significant cardiovascular protection while minimizing common side effects.

Niculescu Government Plans CASS Exemption for Mothers With Young Children.
The Niculescu government has included a measure in its 2026-2028 program to exempt mothers with children under two years old from paying the social health insurance contribution (CASS). This decision aims to reduce costs for child-rearing allowances and benefits received by war veterans. Additionally, parents who voluntarily return to work could retain their allowance rights for three or six months, depending on the child's age at the time of return. These changes are part of the government program of designated Prime Minister Luca Niculescu.

Tenaris begins domestic production of new steel grade in Ontario.
Tenaris has started manufacturing its proprietary TN 95EY steel grade at its Industrial Centre in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. This new alloy is specifically engineered to meet the rigorous demands of Western Canadian energy operators, particularly for high-pressure and high-temperature wells in the Montney and Duvernay formations. The development required extensive collaboration across Tenaris's Canadian operations, involving teams from metallurgy, IT, and laboratory testing to adapt manufacturing processes and ensure quality standards. Martín Castro, Tenaris President in Canada, emphasized that producing this grade locally strengthens the company's commitment to Canadian manufacturing while providing reliable performance for increasingly challenging energy applications.

President Requests Removal of M-19 Images and Inclusive Language.
President Abelardo de la Espriella visited the Ministry of Culture and asked Minister Paola Holguín to remove all images and references to former M-19 commander Carlos Pizarro from public government spaces. During the meeting, the president questioned the use of inclusive language and requested a change to the ministry's name, which was modified during Gustavo Petro's administration. De la Espriella characterized these measures as part of a 'cultural counter-revolution' against what he called wokism.
